I tend to go with my heart when I’m writing, something that tugs at me and pulls me into its depths. Something that lingers or haunts me or fills me with sadness or anger or joy. I like to take a small, delicate, intricate story, to examine a much bigger issue – whether it’s the refugee crisis, climate, or the plight of migrant workers.
